The Most Improved Economy in the World Two Years in a Row
The World Banks' Doing Business 2017 report names Brunei Darussalam as the most improved economy in the world for the second year running, in terms of making doing business in the Sultanate easier.
The report, which measures the efficiency and regulation of domestic businesses, records Brunei Darussalam as jumping a significant 25 places to rank 72 out of 190 economies worldwide, narrowing the gap between Brunei and the top performing economy.
The latest rankings see Brunei Darussalam maintain its position as 4th in ASEAN, behind Singapore (2), Malaysia (23) and Thailand (46); followed by Vietnam (82), Indonesia (91), Philippines (99), Cambodia (121), Myanmar (170) and Lao (139).Within the Asia-Pacific region Brunei Darussalam is positioned 13th, behind north Asian counterparts Republic of Korea at 4th, Taiwan 5th and Japan 8th; and ahead of rising Asian powerhouse, China at 16th ; as well as India who ranked 23rd.
